21 SAN FRANCISCO Cow Palace directors have announced "vastly improved" market animal judging procedures for the Grand National Oct. 27 through Nov. 5. Judging of market animals will be a week earlier than in past shows. The Cow Palace judging system combines live placing for conformation and degree of conditioning with a careful analysis of carcasses after animals are processed.

Under the new system, final results will be announced during the show and exhibitors can study judging date and inspect winning carcasses. In previous years, livestock producers had gone home before processing and analysis had been completed.
